I have been doing uni, playing games, and eating out. I recently got into Adventure Time because it is so fun to watch (I think the puns in the first episode of season one got me) and Jake the dog is voiced by the guy who voices Bender from Futurama.
I went to AVCON last weekend and dressed up as Gumby for a bit. My friend went as Pokey and we were asked to do many photos and hugs. Some hugs came out of nowhere. Every so often I'd hear "It's Gumby!" and some times "It's Gumby and... the other one...". Overall, the weekend was pretty good and I enjoyed all the shows and games on offer. Saturday had some awesome cosplay while Sunday mellowed but still had a few gems among the crowd.

I see what they did there.
Asian Ezio.
An impressively tall Jack Skellington.
I was so happy to see a Pinky Pie!
Vegeta with some sailor scouts.
The lone dancer. He was a groupie for everyone who went on stage.
One of the greatest things you will ever see.
Black Widow.
Black Ranger.
Darth Maul and his clone trooper.
Power Rangers with a fan.
Hulk photobomb.
The Hulk casually chats to Pokey.
Today, I got a lens converter so that I can mount my old canon 50mm F/1.8 lens on to my 650D. At first, I found the lens to be very soft but then I adjusted the metal ring connecting the camera to the lens and it became very sharp. I took some shots with this lens and my 40mm pancake lens for comparison.

50mm before adjusting the ring.
50mm after adjusting the ring.
I found that you need to stop down the 50mm to F/4 to get some good sharpness whereas the 40mm pancake is sharp at F/2.8. I think the 50mm gave a warmer feel too but that may be due to the auto white balance. Using manual focus is a slow process requiring you to digitally zoom onto your subject to get the focus right. When I took some video, the camera shake was much more considerable compared the 40mm as expected from an increase in focal length.
Here is a sample video I made up.
This lens is quite fun to use with it's metal body and manual focusing (Like I enjoy driving manual cars). Even though I have had it for a while, it feels like a new one. This will probably wear off later but we'll see.
