Film stuff.

Hello all.

While I was waiting for my Canon 5D to arrive, I loaded my old Pentax ME Super film camera with some expired film I had lying in the fridge. The photos turned out a bit soft but I got a few nice ones. This could possibly be due to poor focusing on my part. I was happy that I got most of the exposures right as the camera had automatic metering so any spontaneous bright spots could throw it off. Scanning them was a pain as it took 10 minutes to scan 2 slides. I bought a bunch of film to try such as the Kodak Portra 400 and Ilford XP 400 Super which I look forward to using in the near future (before it expires again!).

I had to get the focus on my lens adjusted so I took a walk around the west part of city.

A Friday Afternoon Walk

Hello all!

My friend Matt asked me to go to the Fringe with him to take some photos and so we walked to the east end of the city. We found that the Garden of Unearthly Delights was not open so we trekked around the city instead.

New Old Camera

Hello all.

Wow, it has nearly been a month since my last post. During that time, I went to my friend's wedding as a groomsman which was a great experience and photos I took of that day can be found here. As well as my usual Judo training, I have started going to the gym to try and gain some mass on myself.

I have also changed my equipment again as I have sold my 650D and bought a 7 year old 5D Classic. It has a bigger body than 650D, a bit more fiddlier and no live view or video mode (but then the screen isn't that great either). It has a full metal body though and a big, bright viewfinder which is a bit of a change as I have been shooting with live view recently. The main thing going for it is that it has a full frame sensor which gives images a greater depth of field. I also noticed that the noise at high ISOs is more of the luminescence variety like in high ISO film as opposed to the random colour noise seen in my other cameras.

A friend of mine, who was visiting from Melbourne, came around and we went to the botanical gardens to take some photos.

I just received my Sigma 50mm F1.4 lens today which I had sent away for adjustment so I am expecting amazing things from this set up. But the results of that will have to wait until my next blog...
