Footy Trip.

Hello all.

It has been half a year since my last post so I have started blogging again with a new layout.
I hope it is good for you guys.

On Friday night, my brother and I flew to Melbourne to watch Hawthorn verse North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium. We met our dad who flew in from Darwin earlier that morning. We stayed at Mantra on Little Burke St which was close to the stadium and China town.

That morning, we went to China town for a feed. We ended up at a Chinese restaurant for Yum Cha. I couldn't  remember the name of the place but it was quite good and dad believed that there are other places around which were as good if not better. There seemed to be a lot of places to eat around the city and I wish I could try a lot of them.
After our meal, we had a walk around the city.

We made a brief stop at our hotel then set off for the stadium. Half way towards the stadium, dad realised he forgot the tickets so we had to go back. We went quite early and already there were a lot of people congregating to the stadium.

It was the first time I have been to a football match in Melbourne. The roof of the stadium was closed because it looked like it might have rained. This was good as Hawthorn play poorly in the rain.
Fortunately, we were seated among the Hawthorn contingent so we could cheer our hearts out. This is opposed to the past games where we watched the Hawks at AAMI stadium and had to sit among the Port Adelaide supporters.

"Buddy" Franklin kicked 5 for that day.

That match was quite an intense affair with North Melbourne leading until half way through the 3rd quarter. The Hawks managed to keep in touch and eventually take the lead and hold off the Roos to win the match.
My dad and I thought it might have been a mistake to go to Melbourne for this match based on how the Hawks played in the first half. After the match, we walked to the casino to have dinner with some of dad's friends.

The next morning, my brother and I took the Skybus to the airport. We got put into the exit seats for extra legroom when we checked in. After we boarded, sat down and were lectured about the emergency exit responsibilities, there was a delay due to a malfunction in the plane's cargo area which lead to the plane being unusable somehow so all the passengers had to get off and board a different plane. In the end, we got home sometime in the afternoon.

It was an action packed and enjoyable day and I hope to go back at some point because there are lot of interesting things in Melbourne.

I leave you now with some more pictures.

Film stuff.

Hello all.

While I was waiting for my Canon 5D to arrive, I loaded my old Pentax ME Super film camera with some expired film I had lying in the fridge. The photos turned out a bit soft but I got a few nice ones. This could possibly be due to poor focusing on my part. I was happy that I got most of the exposures right as the camera had automatic metering so any spontaneous bright spots could throw it off. Scanning them was a pain as it took 10 minutes to scan 2 slides. I bought a bunch of film to try such as the Kodak Portra 400 and Ilford XP 400 Super which I look forward to using in the near future (before it expires again!).

A Friday Afternoon Walk

Hello all!

My friend Matt asked me to go to the Fringe with him to take some photos and so we walked to the east end of the city. We found that the Garden of Unearthly Delights was not open so we trekked around the city instead.
